As an extension of our work redesigning the Salesforce Sales Cloud experience for a global professional services firm, we explored how mobile-first sales intelligence could drive daily behavior change and unlock insights for 330,000+ consultants and sales leaders worldwide.
This conceptual initiative focused on Salesforce’s new Tableau Pulse product, a mobile-first analytics solution designed to deliver real-time KPIs, alerts, and explorations via natural language and lightweight visualizations.
The Challenge
Salespeople at this firm operate under a distributed, hybrid “franchisee” model—juggling clients, internal collaborations, and performance targets. Despite the robust desktop tooling, there was no mobile-friendly experience for:
Reviewing personal sales performance metrics
Investigating alerts, anomalies, or missed targets
Accessing contextual data without logging into a full Salesforce org
Our goal: design a mobile sales experience that supports insight on the go—without logging in, loading dashboards, or losing context.
Conceptual Design Approach
Partnered with the analytics team to evaluate Tableau Pulse capabilities and limitations
Created mobile-first design concepts and journey maps to showcase ideal use cases
Defined key behavioral triggers for push alerts:
Quarterly pacing
Deal slippage
Account activity gaps
Personal KPI anomalies
Designed modular exploration flows using natural language querying and Pulse’s AI summarization features
Focused heavily on zero-friction UX for mobile: no dashboards, no toggles, just answers
Impact
“This showed us how sales performance data could finally be useful between meetings, not just in them.”
— Director of Sales Strategy (Client-Side)
